Artist Spotlight..Prov

Artist: Prov
Label: O.G. Entertainment/K.I.L.L.A Squad
Future? Potential Potential Potential

This is definitely the artist spotlight where I'm co-signing the Artist being showcased. This 18 year old rapper from Providence, RI keeps his name simple and home town all the way simply "Prov". With effortless punchlines and the ability to bring crazy emotion this young man is ready to make a big move on the Hip-Hop scene. Prov has been rapping since the age of about 12 and has grown into a man over the mic. I've been hearing his music since the early days when he was still known as Young Killa. The progression is amazing and Prov has become more and more versatile over time. At the age of 15 he was taken in by prominent Providence music group known as O.G. Entertainment. Spending long hours waiting in the studio to record after the lead artist of the label got in the booth. Prov's work ethic and ability led all the top artists of O.G. want to record tracks with him, he also possessed the ability to help out with studio sessions and even produce tracks. The kid is multi-talented and if put in the right situation he will flourish. He's been compared to Cassidy and Lloyd Banks because of his ease with punch lines, but the potential is so much greater if his song structure continues to grow. Aside from being a solo artist Prov is also part of the trio called Killa Squad (Keeping It Live Like Always) which features himself, AR-15, and P.Krac. Prov has a solo project as well as a group project in the works, He's currently recording material for it and getting his career moves right by working with Tyrone "Hus" Campbell of Visual Post to get all kinds of graphics and video work done for 2008. Prov has been getting into the myspace scene heavy and has gained a lot of attention for his remix of "Get Silly", Prov puts his own twist on this track with the help of Killa Squad. Another verse which has people buzzing is on the track "Don't Mistake Me" with O.G. Ent. artist Reeper. Prov also shows he can deliver those raw emotions type of tracks with the introspective track "Lost In My Own Mind". The only road block in Prov's way so far have been his run ins with the Law. But he's definitely on the right track in 2008 to make a statement going into 2009, he's only 18 going on 19 so his journey is just beginning . He's got plenty of support from myself Young Che (his Dj) and of course the "D-Pride and Sirus Show" where Prov had an impressive interview this summer where he spit these freestyles. Stay on the look out for Prov and the whole O.G. Entertainment/ Killa Squad movement.

Essence Music Group on WRIU..Dope!

Whats good people..I'm here to update you on the Essence Music group interviews on the "D-Pride and Sirus show along w/ Young Che". Last night we had EMG (Jon Hope, Mista Mista, and LJC) in the building for some interviews. It was a great time overall, we had a bunch of listeners and of course the artists were major. We started off with R&B sensation LJC and he let everyone into the process he goes through when making a song. Because he is a true artist, he's begun producing on his own music recently and will be featured on the up coming Jon Hope EP "Some Kind of Wonderful" and Mista Mista official debut "No Greater Love" (both projects are due out in Fall of 08'). We also got into a couple of LJC joints like the track "Want Some" feat. Jon Hope which is just crack. After LJC, we got Mista Mista in there for his interview and it was deep. He touched on everything from once upon a time trying to be a break dancer to dealing with being a white rapper and the stigma that comes with it. He also spit a crazy 16 acapella for us, which had the phone ringing off the hook with people wanted to hear it again. Finally we got into his current single "Adjust My Tie" feat. LJC , that song is and has been a problem for months now! Jon Hope had the last interview of the night and he was amazing as usual. Dude is just too smooth, he handles interviews like a pro because nothing is off limits and his humbleness makes for great conversation. We played his classic record "Blue Devils" feat Termanology, it's just a classic New England track. Also check out Hope's current single "Savior" feat LJC. It was an amazing show and definitely wanna shout out the whole EMG team! y'all are the truth..Below are some pics from the show..Be on the look out for the Youtube videos of the show soon, along with the audio from the interviews. Peace.

Artist Spotlight..Lah

Artist: Lah
Current CD: Love and Hate (Mixtape)
Reps: Brilliant Guy Music Group
Future? Lots of Potential!

I first heard about Lah few months ago through my homie Theo! myspace page. I definitely knew of Lah and who he was but I honestly slacked major and never checked out his page and stuff. Enough time went by and I forgot all about checking out his myspace. But then came this past Thursday and I went to get a hair cut at my favorite barber shop Creative Style, and I while waiting for my cut my barber Curve was asking me "You know my boy Lah, you heard his music?" and I was like "Nah, but i've heard of him"..So my barber does what barbers do more than cut hair..TALK!..lol..He called the homie Lah over and we chopped it up about music and stuff, I quickly saw he was a cool humble dude..and he passed me his latest mixtape "Love and Hate"..He told me I wouldn't be disappointed..But honestly since I've been doing radio I've heard that a million times..most times it's GARBAGE!..lol..but every once and a while the music is dope..I got back to the crib popped in the CD and it was hott!..success in terms of a radio head..

Since the CD is fresh in my mind I could do a quick review to give y'all an idea of what you have to look forward to..I don't even want to call it a mixtape because it doesn't feel like one..It's not full of industry beats which is refreshing in a way. The Cd starts off with a hott intro, Lah took the Love and Hate conversation between Radio Raheem and Mookie from the Spike Lee classic movie "Do the Right Thing". As soon as the songs begin it's easy to see that Lah has crazy swag, dude sounds like his own person..very nice..The title track "Love and Hate" is a real strong track, which most people can relate to "We've seen a lot of Love, We've seen a lot of Hate". Very quickly into the Cd you can hear the quality of beats on this joint, and it's probably from the Executive Producer Saint Patrick. He does a great job of sampling on the track "The Rhythm of the Night", it's a real smooth track people can vibe to(one of my favs on the Cd). Right after that track you get a great feature from Theo! on the "Interlude"; Theo and Lah just go in and spit crazy verses, no hook just madd SWAG like! These two dudes had crazy chemestry on the tracks Theo! was on so I hope they work together again..Providence needs some unity, the city is too small to not collaborate. On the track "Stick With Me", Lah gets his singing game right on the hook (very catching, I can dig It)..It's a real smooth track for the females. Speaking of females..lol..Lah got a joint called "For My Lady Friends" which is tight as well, real smooth like. I must say this before I continue..lol..Auto-Tune..Lah got a joint called "Food for Thought", I'm feeling it, everyone is using it nowadays and being the T-Pain fan I am (It Gets Annoying!!) but I must say Lah surprised me because he did his own thing with it and it's one of my favorite tracks on "Love and Hate"..So props to Lah for still bringing his own swag to it. Overall the mixtape..[pause]..Let's call it an Album, because it was like a mooooviiieee(Khaled Reference lol) but real talk the Cd is hott and I would recommend it to any hip-hop fan. Good stuff my dude Lah!

Just not to leave this out, Lah is reppin' Providence so, the Rhode Island 401 scene is looking bright we have a lot of Artists on the rise and expect to see them all on this blog at one point or another..if you liked the joints you heard from Lah go to his myspace page ThisIsLah and download the mixtape..Support the man, when you see him in the streets buy the joint off him..It's worth it people!..One final thing..lol..Dude is extremely articulate which is dope..because it makes the music that much better vocabulary wise..listen to the Outro to know what i'm talking bout..100

Music Time..7-11-08

Alright people..it's time for some music..it's July 11th and my brothers birthday so shout outs to my bro Tone..Lets get into it!

1. Ace Hood feat. Trey Songz - "Ride or Die"
This is a hott track coming from We The Best Music Group artist Ace Hood along with Trey Songz..Sounds like Ace's album "Gutta" is shaping up pretty nice..and like i said a couple of days ago..it's gonna be feature heavy thanks to Khaled..Shout outs to Khaled for sending this track my way.

2. Dre feat. Chris Brown -"Erased"
Dre is getting his singing game up on this track...Chris Brown suprising doesn't overwhelm the song..although you can hear a bit of CB in Dre's swag..Still a smooth track about relationships.Props to Dre on the track.

3. Theo! - "Sweetest Language"
Hott song coming from Rhode Island native. Theo shows his singing abilities on this smooth hook, also has some hott 16's in there..It seems like Theo is just getting better and better.FYI another Rhode Island rapper on the come up Lah has basically the same song out as well called "Sweetest Language"..Same sample on the beat and everything..I can't call it!

4. Lah - "The Rhythm of the Night"
Speaking of Lah I just copped his mixtape "Love and Hate" and it's hott! he's got an artist spotlight coming soon on CheIsHere..So I figured i'd give y'all a taste of the mixtape. This track is ill, he's got smooth swag on it..ya boy says "We Royalty, this is ASCAP"..lol..sick..Look out for the Dude Lah he's serious.

5. Click feat. Chris Brown - "Get It Get It"
Don't know too much about this group..But i'm definitely doing some research..Song sounds hott with Chris Breezy on the hook..

6. Gym Class Heroes feat. The Dream - "Cookie Jar"
This song is hott..Travis does a great job with all his word play on every verse..and Dream get the hook well..Good song overall..I've always like Gym Class Heroes..good stuff

7. Dunk Ryders feat. Pleasure P - "Meeting in My Bedroom"
I might be biased because I like Dunk Ryder and anything coming outta Florida right now..lol..Pleasure P has found life after Pretty Ricky lol..song is worth a quick listen..It's one of those goon love type tracks that Plies would make..

8. J Blue feat. Snoop Dogg - "Hey!"
Never heard of J Blue before and I must say i'm gonna go to some research on him as well..I only listened to it cuz Snoop is on it but it turns out he only does a 16 at the end of the song..J Blue does a great job on this one..I played it tuesday on the D-Pride and Sirus show and it got love from the people..

9. Rock City - "Maxine"
These two dudes are quickly become one of my favorite groups out here..Rock City is crazy versatile and and this throwback feeling song proves it..It's like the cheaters anthem..Good stuff, be on the look out for Rock City.

10. Cory Gunz feat. Ryan Leslie - "Get Right Tonight"
R.Les makes hits right now. And Cory Gunz comes with the smooth lyrics, dude says "Shawty wanna chill, I give her North Pole"..lol..Overall hott track..Shout outs to the DImple Diva for puttin' me on to this track.

Hope you enhoy the records..Lets remember this all from promotional use only..go support the artists!!

Artist Spotlight..Tyrone [HUS] Campbell

Name: Tyrone [HUS] Campbell
Profession: Video Production, Audio Production, Graphic Design. etc.
Future Looking? Extremely Bright.

I first met [HUS] back in like late 05' early 06'. Back then all I knew was that he was down with O.G. Entertainment and he was nice a working the board in the studio and when he felt like it could spit an ill 16 bars on a track. At that time he was in a rap group called "The League" and they had some hott tracks..They were in heavy rotation on my radio show all the time. I soon found out that [HUS] was also a pretty good music video director when I saw a video he did for O.G. Entertainment artist Hype Holla. Soon enough I started seeing all the amazing flyers/posters and commercials he was putting on his resume. It was obvious the [HUS] would begin to be referred to by his full name Tyrone Campbell, it began to seem that everyone's mixtape in this region was being designed by [HUS]. Recently Rhode Island rapper Jon Hope put out a video for his track "Give Us Free" that was directed by [HUS] and i was amazed, because it looked like something Hype Williams or Little X would've directed. Soon after [HUS] and Patrick Hughes created "Visual Post LLC" which is a Rhode Island based Video Production and motion graphics company. They've been making an instant impact on the scene, working with many types of entertainers (the more diverse the better opportunities come about). Check out some of Visual Post's work; they do all kinds of work, from myspace pages to music videos. I have a vinyl record of a single from O.G. Entertainment at my moms crib, one day my dads friend was over looking at the record's cover (designed by [HUS]) and he said "I don't care if the music is any good, whoever designed this cover is the person who will be famous". Talent that can span generations is what will take you far because who can get work from anywhere. So all i'm saying is keep your eyes open and one day you'll see your favorite rappers video directed by Tyrone [HUS] Campbell, and he could probably out rap some MC's in the game if he really wanted to. Crazy..lol..Check out [HUS] on myspace for his contact information or check out Visual Post for more information...Def. be on the look out people!

Video's to look at..

Artist Spotlight..Adrian..

Artist: Adrian McKinnon
Label: The Academy/Asylum/Atlantic
Album: State Of The Art (Coming Soon)

I've been following Adrian's music career since last summer (07'). Since then I've had him on my radio show for one of the most interesting and enjoyable interviews I've ever had. Born in Spokane, Washington..Adrian is far more than a singer; he also writes and produces his own music. Not only can he do it but his label has given him total creative control over the entire project (thats crazy!). Adrian is a breath of fresh air to the R&B genre; this dude is as smooth as they come..So ladies get ready, because this man Adrian is the truth and the music is gonna be soulful and all that good stuff. He comes from a family of musicians so he has plenty to live up to and it gave him the ability to advance his talents in all areas which has propelled him to become an amazing overall artist. His album "State of the Art" was due to be released in the Spring but Adrian is taking a little more time to get things just right, lets remember "Full Creative Control" so he knows when it'll be ready. As for right now all of his fans and soon to be fans can check out the myspace
www.myspace.com/adrianmckinnon
to check out some tracks from the up coming album "State of the Art". He's got slow jams like the track "Patient" (which dives into the complex world of relationships). You also get those more up tempo sexy songs like "Temptation". And his newest song on the myspace "Forever" which is just simply a hott track. Most definitely be on the look out for Adrian in the very near future and keep your ears open because he's a song writer which means you might hear your favorite R&B stars singing an Adrian written and produced track! Also have to shout out Jamel Johnson and the whole Academy staff who do a great job managing Adrian...here are some videos of Adrian singing live...Enjoy.

Don't Care About Baseball..So back to the NBA for me..lol

Michael Beasley and the Heat get the best of Rose and the Bulls..

Beasley played like he did at K-State..Beastly, even against grown men like Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas..He scored 28 points in 23 minutes also had some good rebounds in a 94-70 win for the Heat in the Orlando Summer League. Derrick Rose struggled a little bit (5 turnovers) against Mario Chalmers in a little rematch of the NCAA tittle game. It might only be Summer League NBA basketball but it's more intriguing to me than baseball..lol..sorry! haha

I can't even front i suffer from T-Painitis..any record this dude touches it sounds crazy..pause it's not the auto-tune..lol..the dude is just magic..add Weezy to it and it's a problem..Also check out Silver and Gold..Pain is doin' it..Th33 Rings..Coming soon
6. G-Unit - "Kitty Kat"
Even though T.O.S. flopped major (100k,damn Fif)..I still liked it and thought they stayed true to G-Unit type of records and that was all i expected so I enjoyed it. Definitely worth a listen
7. Ace Hood - "Collection Plate" {the link for Collection Plate is acting funny, so check his myspace}
I'm feelin' Ace Hood right now..I've known about him for a while (shout out to Serious Promotions, I see you khaled)..He's got potential, not to mention that his album "Gutta" will be feature heavy thanks to Khaled..Shout outs to Broward County I see y'all
8. Trey Songz - "High Definition"
Trey is similar to T-Pain to me..I just like his records in general..he has a lot of metaphors while he sings similar to rappers (cuz he actually can rap lol)..Not to forget he's like R&B singer number 9,000 to do an A Milli freestyle..lol..and a Got Money freestyle for good measure lol
9. Rock City - "Losin It"
These guys will be on the artist spotlight in the days to come..They're extremely talented artists, a bunch of their songs just got leaked out and it sounds major..i swear Akon just signs people on the spot..They're signed to KonLive..CRAZY..lol
10. Lloyd feat. The Dream - "I Need Love"
This is a smooth joint right here..Some of the joints leaked of Lloyd's up coming project sound good; "Girls Around The World', "In the A"..he's sounding good right now, which is good because "Street Love" was a hott album and he needs to top that to keep the Inc. above water.
FYI there is another version of "I Need Love" floating around with Sterling Simms called "All I Need" with Dream and a Remix with Jadakiss out there..it was probably a demo or something perhaps..

Hope Y'all Enjoyed the tracks..let's remember..Promo use only!! support the artists!!

Che Is Out..

It's Go Time!!

Whats good everyone!
This is the first official post on CheIsHere..and it feels good to get it going, just want to give y'all a little run down of what to expect..but I'll keep it short. You can find a bunch of goodies on the right side of the blog; information about me (Bio, email's, etc.), also some links to people I'm affiliated with, and some History on the man Che Guevara. You can expect me to post songs I'm feeling at the moment (everything is for promotional use only, go buy the music people), Lots of Artist spotlights weekly, along with random/stupid YouTube Videos, and of course some shameless radio plugs along the way lol..So with that being said, lets get it going.
